Privacy Policy

Last updated August 2026

Avok is designed to work without collecting personal data. This policy explains what stays on your device, what syncs through your own iCloud account, and the one third-party service it talks to.

Data we collect

Avok doesn't require an account and has no server of its own. Meals, pantry items, recipes, and grocery list entries you create are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.

iCloud sync

If iCloud is enabled on your device, your data syncs privately across your own devices through Apple's CloudKit, inside your personal iCloud account. Avok has no server and no way to see your data - the developer cannot access it. You can turn sync off at any time in iOS Settings or within Avok.

Health data

With your permission, Avok reads workout calorie burns, body mass, height, biological sex, and date of birth from Apple Health to calculate your calorie budget accurately.

Avok writes the meals and water you log back to Apple Health - dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, sugar, and water - so your nutrition data stays in sync with the rest of Health.

This data is used only to power Avok's own dashboard and is never shared with third parties or used for advertising.

Camera and Reminders access

With your permission, Avok uses your device's camera to scan nutrition labels and barcodes so you can add pantry items faster. Scans are processed on-device; Avok doesn't store the camera image itself, only the nutrition data you confirm.

If you enable it, Avok syncs your grocery list with a dedicated "Avok | Grocery List" list in Apple Reminders, so you can manage or share it across your devices.

Third-party services

Avok looks up product and nutrition data from Open Food Facts, an open, non-profit food database, when you search or scan a barcode. These requests send only a search term or barcode - never anything that identifies you. Avok does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.

Data retention and your rights

Your data stays on your device (and in your own iCloud account, if sync is on) for as long as you keep it there. You can review, export, or delete it at any time from Avok's Privacy settings, or remove everything at once with Delete All Data.

Because Avok has no account and no server, most rights under GDPR - access, rectification, erasure, and portability - are already in your hands through these in-app tools. For anything else, or to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, you can reach out using the contact details below.

Children's privacy

Avok is not directed at children and doesn't knowingly collect personal data from anyone. Because the app stores everything locally with no account system, this is largely moot in practice - but if you believe a child has used Avok in a way that concerns you, contact us and we'll help.
